Krups

I have a handsome wood pepper mill from Peugeot (like Elizabeth's) that I leave out on the table and use from time to time in the kitchen. But it is one of their smaller models, and I find that I am constantly refilling it. I use large quantities of pepper when cooking (especially when I was testing all those recipes for my my casserole book!) and in those cases I go straight for my old krups.com coffee grinder, which now I use exclusively for spices and pepper. I use pretty large quantities of black pepper in my dishes, and when you need a teaspoon here, or a half teaspoon there, it can be such a pain to grind, grind, grind it out of a small hand grinder. When I am doing a weekend's worth of cooking, I will often grind up a few tablespoons of pepper in my Krups grinder, and use it over the course of a day or two. Yes, the pepper isn't immediately fresh-ground, but it really doesn't have a chance to lose too much flavor. And the convenience is worth it to me. And of course this powerful little grinder is also great for spice rubs, and fresh spice mixes, as well as for grinding other spices. Fresh-ground cinnamon is quite a revelation!. If you use a grinder like this to grind spices, do not grind cloves in it. Clove oil will eat away certain types of plastic, including the kind used on these. I use the exact same grinder to grind my spices! Works like a charm for everything I throw into it: cumin, star anise, cinnamon (even the thicker bark pieces). It doesn't grind mustard seed to that superfine, mustard flour like Coleman's. Besides that it's great. They're usually under $20 so the price is right too. I use the same coffee grinder, I got two for Christmas one year and decided to keep both and use one for spices, I love the moment when you pull the top off and the aroma of freshly ground spices bursts out!. I bought this for my husband when we were just dating for coffee, he still has it and it still works great. I want to get another one for spices. Krups is the best – here's hoping for some caffeination coming my way!. What a beautiful coffeemaker! My favorite coffeemaker of all time was the simple white Krups of 20 years ago–no bells and whistles, just an on/off switch and good coffee. I was scrolling through my google reader and just stopped dead on the picture of this coffee maker. I didnt even know it was giveaway until after I drooled for a few minutes. I'm making coffee in a tea pot without a lid, using a strainer!! Company coming next month- I need a real coffee maker. This is gorgeous!. Seeing as my coffee maker is from 10 years ago and I just know it's going to die any day now I am hoping the Powers of Random Prize Pickers actually smile down upon me for this one!. We haven't seen this new line of appliances in person, so we're judging them solely on aesthetics here (not functionality). But from the photos we've seen, they look like little countertop stunners. There's a toaster, an espresso machine, a juicer and a kettle. They're all sleek and chrome-ified, with elements of natural wood worked into their design. The trouble with shiny objects is that you have to keep them shiny. Every fingerprint and every speck of dust is an enemy. That makes them a lifestyle involving lots of elbow grease to ward off the finger grease. ooh boy. yes shiny, yes would clean fingerprints and specks of dust daily, will take for walks, feed and love. too bad i just bought a new toaster last week. I recently bought the Krups Silver Art tea kettle and it looks beautiful! Works really well and I'm very happy with it. My new favorite kitchen addition. That is true that you must keep always maintain and keep the appliances clean in order for them to look shiny BUT it is worth it! I always loved the stainless steal look and I am especially fond of the Krups brand. They are easy to clean and even though they may be a bit expensive, they are a good product. Another great thing about owning a Krups product is that there are places that specialize in making krups parts so you don't have to buy a new appliance.
